Leaving Certificate Candidate Self Service Portal

Leaving Cert 2021 Candidate Self Service Portal (CSSP) opened at noon today, Wednesday March 10th and will remain open until 6pm next Tuesday, March 16th.

This portal is open to Leaving Certificate (LA) and Leaving Certificate Applied Year 2 (LCA) Students, that is all students (or candidates) who are entered to sit the Leaving Certificate State Examinations in 2021.

The CSSP is where you can access all services related to the 2021 Leaving Certificate.

You must Register in order to access this Portal but before doing so it is recommended that you read the CSSP Before You Start Guide 2021. Once you have read the guide, there are 2 Steps to accessing the CSSP.

Register for the CSSP (Candidate Self Service Portal)

Step 1: Register – Click here to Register

To Register you will need the following

  1. your Examination Number
  2. your Personal Identification Number (PIN), this is the first 4 digits of your PPSN
  3. a mobile phone number
  4. an email address that you have continual access to, to receive important information. (There are issues with Yahoo accounts, so it is advised that you use and alternate email address.)

Step 1:

1.     Confirm your Subjects & Levels

2.     Opt In – Accredited Grades/ Examinations

Leaving Certificate Students should complete 1 and 2 above. Leaving Certificate Applied Students should complete number 2 only.

What do you have to do next?

Now that you have registered, what do you have to do?

Leaving Cert students will be given a six-day window starting today, Wednesday 10th Mar,  to decide whether they want to take exams or receive accredited grades, or both, in their chosen subjects. The Candidate Self Service Portal allows students to select Leaving Cert subjects and levels.

 

Should you decide to sit your Leaving Certificate:

  • Students will not be allowed to sit written exams other than those applied for by March 16th.
  • Candidates opting to sit the written exams will be permitted to change their levels on the day of the exam, as they do in a normal year.
  • Candidates can withdraw their intention to set selected exams up to the end of April/early May.

Should you opt for Accredited Grades:

In relation to Accredited Grades, the levels selected for subjects – higher, ordinary or foundation – by candidates at the end of April/early May will be “absolutely final

This time frame is to allow teachers time to process candidates accredited grades.

A Guide to State Examinations and Accredited Grades has been published by the Department of Education on gov.ie/LeavingCertificate.

The State Examinations Commission has also published a Circular here containing important information in relation to the arrangements for the Leaving Certificate examinations.
